| An official Kern County Commercial Film Permit, issued by the Kern County Film Commission, is required for ALL PROJECTS -- including those on state, federal or private properties. Additional federal, state, county or civic permits may be required depending upon the specific location and activity. Please consult the Film Commission for additional requirements. |

- Complete and submit the Kern County Commercial Filming Permit Application along with a valid certificate of insurance.
- For projects involving roads:
- To determine if roads to be filmed are county, state, or private property, contact the Film Commission.
- If any of the roads to be filmed are county roads, complete and submit the Special Event Filming Permit Application to the County Roads Department. Requests for road closures will be considered on a case-by-case basis and also require submission of an Event Related Road Closure application.
- Stunts or pyrotechnics in unincorporated Kern County require a Kern County Fire Department Permit.
On this form:
- Complete the project information section.
- Check the box labeled "Special Effects" and enter details under "Description of Project".
- Complete customer/applicant information (some fields may not apply).
- Fax the completed form to the number listed on the form.
Note: Stunts or pyrotechnics in Kern County's incorporated cities require civic permissions. Please contact the Film Commission for specific information.
